5 Ways to Maximize Your Social Pages

It’s a digital world, and we’re just living in it. With the potential to reach billions of people, your business can’t afford to NOT be on social media channels. Social media can be a free and easy way to connect with current or potential customers, both by establishing your expertise and by staying top of mind. Make sure you’re making the most of your social media presence with these five tips to maximize your social pages.

1. Determine the Right Social Channels

Not all social media platforms are created equally. Basically, you should consider who your audience is and if they’re using a certain platform. While Facebook and Instagram make sense for most businesses, if you’re trying to reach a younger base, SnapChat and Tik Tok might be the place for you. It all depends on who your target audience is and who you’re trying to reach with your messages.

2. Update Your Profile Page

Make sure to keep your profile information current. This includes updating your profile picture and cover photo (if applicable) to match your evolving brand, as well as store hours and any other relevant information.

Think of your profile as your virtual “first impression.” It’s the first thing that potential customers will see before deciding if they want to explore your business any further. Your entire goal with your profile page is to be enticing enough to get your page visitors to click the link to your website, which should be located on your social profile.

3. Use a Relatable Voice

Too many brands try to be something that they’re not. Remember to use your social profile as if you’re speaking directly to your potential customers. There is no need to insert your brand into online debates or current events if it doesn’t make sense. With that said, it’s okay to have some fun and jump in on trends that will showcase your brand’s personality.

The easiest way to ensure your voice is relatable is to read your posts out loud. Yes, this sounds silly, but it is a lifesaver! If you read back the post and it doesn’t sound like something you would say to a potential customer, or it sounds like robot-speak, take another pass at the content. Speak online just like you would talk to a person.

4. Share Current Content

Credibility can be lost if somebody goes to your page and realizes you haven’t posted for three years. They may even wonder if your business is still operating. While you don’t have to post every single day to be successful, you should still be posting occasionally. Make sure the content is both relevant and relatable to your end user.

5. Use Hashtags

Hashtags are a great way to get your content in front of potential customers who aren’t familiar with your brand. Basically, adding a # sign in front of a word will make it searchable across social platforms—especially Twitter and Instagram. If you’ve followed the steps above to ensure your page is ready for potential customers, you’ll have no problem enticing them to further explore your brand.

Add hashtags to relevant content that potential customers could be searching for on social. The longer the hashtags, the less likely somebody else is searching for that exact phrasing. Think simple and searchable with hashtags.

There are billions of people out there searching social media sites every day. Make sure your business is ready to go fishing in that deep social media sea for potential customers. Use the above tips, and you’ll have them hook, line and sinker.
